We live in an age where we constantly look at digital images, in fact as I type this blog my Wife, my Daughter and I are all looking at digital media. So why in this digital age would you want a wedding album?
Now I've read other wedding photographers blogs and they mention that albums are important because digital technology changes quickly and that digital images may become corrupt or accidentally deleted and computers may be stolen, lost or damaged which are all valid reasons however there is something hugely enjoyable about holding and looking at a well crafted book containing beautiful images. When I take the time to pick a photo book from my bookshelf I spend much longer looking at each image than I would do with the same image on a computer screen. A book slows me down and makes me think. I find It is that there is a physical and emotional connection when holding a book or print that you just don't get when looking at an image on a screen. Here is what one of my wedding clients, Ali & Luke, say about their wedding album......................
'Our wedding photograph album is really a work of art and the images are laid out beautifully and in sequence of the day thanks to Vics talent as a photographer. Many moments would easily have been forgotten without the album and we still frequently have a look and reminisce at how lovely our day was. We knew if we didn't include the album in our package then our images would stay on the disc and not make it into an album which we felt would have been such a waste. Our wedding album means the world to us and we were so excited to receive it once our day was over so that we could relive every magical moment. I would highly recommend including an album in your package as they are so professionally made and was greatly received.'
Now wedding albums range hugely in price and are a considered purchase so why not ask for your guests to contribute towards or buy an album for you as their wedding gift? I can't think of many nicer gifts.
So that's why I think that albums are important.
